Chat and G-Match 13/24: Saturday, Nov 29th, 1pm GMT

Round 13:
All 10 puzzles will be released at once. However, you MUST solve one of the first puzzles (ID 72529 or 72530) and get the secret message in order to proceed solving the rest of the puzzles.

Puzzles with secret messages are tagged with the icon .

Schedule:
Our next Matches are on:
Saturday, December 6th, 1AM GMT (Round 14).
Saturday, December 13th, 10PM GMT (Round 15).

The next Saturdays are on December 20th and 27th. Let us know through the forum G-Match, Tournament 7 - Schedule and Score if you want to skip both dates, or just one of them, because of Christmas.

Good luck! :-)

I did Bud and found the icon , but it wasn't much of a secret message. Will the G-match messages have more significance ??

I couldn't get the secret message to show up on my Mac.
OS 10.3.9 with Safari 1.3.2 (?) or Internet Explorer 5.2
I guess I'll have to use my Windows-based PC.

I also couldn't post this message on my Mac.

Does anyone know if I can solve for the G-match on a linux based system using Firefox? This Saturday I will be out of town and a linux will be the only comp at my disposal without going to the library. Does anyone know if this secret message thingy will work on that kind of system??

If your linux machine has a Java plugin it should work.

I solved the Bud puzzle using igridd- webstart, and I can't see any of the tag icons - so I can't click on it to get the message.

Does this only work if you go through the g-match page on the website, not the member application?

Thanks

Answers:

-------------------------

Question: I hope they will be understandable; I don't speak good English.
Answer: People who could understand the chat's header messages will be able to understand the secret messages.

-------------------------

Question: I did Bud and found the icon, but it wasn't much of a secret message. Will the G-match messages have more significance ??
Answer: Sure! Bud and Filing Cabinet were just for testing.

-------------------------

Question: I couldn't get the secret message to show up on my Mac.
Answer: Solvers who can't read secret messages because of technical problems can send a message to one of the chat moderators before the match. They can also send a message to any username in the chat page when the G-Match starts.

-------------------------

Question: I solved the Bud puzzle using igridd-webstart, and I can't see any of the tag icons. Does this only work if you go through the g-match page on the website, not the member application?
Answer: Secret messages appear in all applets.
You probably had an old version of the applet open when you tried to read the message. Close the applet and open it again to download the new version that enables reading secret messages.

hello
I first tried to test bud through the griddlers page and the message fatal error too many java machines running at once appeared no puzzle appeared just the red cross in the corner I minimised that and left it running Started i grid where bud and the puzzle icon both worked Does this mean that it should work providing I use i grid?
I'm sure this will be fairer putting the solving of puzzles in one order though it will mean that if I and others sleep in and miss the begining (as I sometimes do) we will no longer be able to start in the middle to salvage a few points
cheers jan

The secret messages work in all applets. Try to access the site through www.triddlers.com and see if you still get the fatal error alert, or - ignore it if you use iGridd anyway.

Fair? It is a match. Being in time and attending more matches, even if some rounds are when you usually sleep, is part of the contest. If you're late and if we are still there, you can ask where the secret message is. We will tell you the puzzle ID.

I've never done a G-Match before, but I've been wanting to. Seems like a good time to give it a shot! Do I need to do anything special, like sign up somewhere? Or just show up at the designated time and get the link?

Nothing special, just enter the chat in time to get the password.
I do recommend to read the Help page:
http://www.griddlers.net/pages/contest_help
Lots of questions you probably have are answered in that page.
Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow. :-)

"Fair? It is a match. Being in time [sic] and attending more matches, even if some rounds are when you usually sleep, is part of the contest."

What about not being able to attend a round on time because it starts when you're at work and you can't play even if you wanted to because your company has set up a filter that blocks griddlers.net, among other sites? (That's my situation for any round that starts before 3 AM GMT(or 2 AM GMT when we're on DST). :-( )
